The telecommunications landscape is in a constant state of change. Knowledge and competence in this area is vital for professionals working in this ever-changing industry.

A flagship course of Telefocal Asia, the ‘ABCs of Telecommunications’ is a 3-day course that provides executives with a fundamental understanding and overview of the modern telecommunications networks that are in operation today.

The course covers the various basic building blocks that make up the modern telecommunications networks of today. It provides an overview understanding of all the enabling technologies that power fixed networks, data network, wireless networks, mobile networks and the Internet.

Important basic concepts on radio propagation, multiplexing, TCP/IP, switching, signaling will be covered. Radio technologies such as Bluetooth, NFC and wireless LAN will also be included. Participants will also acquire a fundamental understanding of wireless access technologies like WCDMA, HSPA, LTE, LTE-A and 5G.

Apart from wireless access technologies, transmission technologies such as microwave, fiber optics communications will also be covered. Participants will also acquire a good understanding on data networks and how they work, such as LAN, WAN, carrier ethernet. They will also learn future technologies that are set to shape the evolving IP/Telecommunications landscape, including SDN, cloud and the Internet of Things (IoT).

By attending this course, participants will gain critical foundation knowledge before branching out to pursue other more advanced topics in the converged IT / Telecommunications technology domain.

This course is designed for both technical and non-technical professionals working in the telecommunications industry.

Instructor-led Training

  • LIVE Virtual*: 21 hours

  • A minimum of 6 or more participants are required for a company-based LIVE Virtual course to commence
  • LIVE Virtual courses can be conducted for 5 hours or 7 hours daily. Please note that the number of training days will be extended if you opt for 5 hours daily.
