LTE Workshop

Course Objectives:

This course will enable the participants to understand :

  • Evolution from 3GPP UMTS and HSPA to HSPA+ and LTE/LTE-Advanced. The related layer 1 and 2 protocol functions are dealt with in great detail. 
  • LTE/LTE-Advanced deployment and rollout strategies and its relationship with already-deployed 2G and 3G networks. 
  • Converged/Single RAN will be investigated. 
  • New spectrum allocation and spectrum re-farming. 
  • Small cell (indoor and outdoor) deployments in conjunction with WiFi will be considered 
  • All-IP network architecture will be described (core and radio access network elements and protocols I nvestigated). 
  • Remote-radio head (RRH) vs. pico-cell solutions will be compared. 
  • New QoS mechanisms and KIP will be described. 
  • Applications such as VoIP, video streaming and downloading, video-telephony will be presented.

 

Pre-Requisite for Participants:

Detailed knowledge of the GSM/GPRS is appreciated.
