GPON Network Design, Planning & Optimization

Course Objectives:

After successfully completing this course, attendees will:

  • Understand the concepts of GPON
  • Draw the architecture of OLT, ONT and ODN
  • Understand the concepts of ODN Design
  • Grasp the advanced GPON Concepts
  • Design a basic GPON Network
  • Planning GPON Services in a large city

Course Overview:

This course is designed to provide students with current knowledge and an overview of PON fundamentals. PON standards are emphasized including Optical Line Termination (OLT), Optical Network Termination (ONT) and Optical Distribution Networks (ODN). FTTx deployments discussed include Overlay, Greenfield, Brownfield and Hybrid. Later, designing and planning topics are excavated deeply so as to inculcate expert knowledge in the student.

Pre-Requisite for Participants:

Students should have a:

  • Basic understanding of Optical Networking and IP Fundamentals

  • Good understanding of data networking concepts
