Course Overview:
Carriers are in the transition phase – between the traditional Telco 1.0 era and the Telco 2.0 era where data traffic dominates their networks. A well-known technology that provides cost-efficient connectivity over data networks is Ethernet, and it is the interface of choice for virtually all applications and services. With Ethernet, Carriers can deliver services at lower operating costs, higher flexibility and scalability to all current and future network technologies, ensuring QoS at all times.
The set of standard service definitions by the Metro Ethernet Forum have now evolved to meet the kind of Ethernet services that customers now demand. Service providers can deliver services between sites that appear to customers as end-to-end Ethernet. Network operators can emulate other traditional services (i.e. TDM) over the same infrastructure and deliver all services using Carrier Ethernet.
This training course aims to provide a strong insight into Carrier Ethernet technologies and the Metro Ethernet Forum specifications for services. It will also examine how these services can be delivered over different carrier core and access networks, transport platforms along with other services deployed. It includes all the latest enhancements as per CE 2.0 (blueprint C) standards defined by MEF.
